Where is Oak Creek Vineyards & Winery?
Along Page Springs Road, 3,400 feet up in the shadow of House Mountain. The soil is mostly volcanic, a fact to save for when your other material runs out.
What usually happens at Oak Creek Vineyards & Winery?
- Flights start the argument. Five one-ounce pours, pre-selected as Lighter Reds, Bolder Reds or Medal Winners. Build your own if you have opinions, or take the Medal Winners and let the judges do the arguing.
- Tipsy Bites, Friday to Sunday, 11 AM to 4 PM. Order the Raspberry Cheesecake Chimichangas and call it a pairing. The weekend menu also runs to Queso Birria and a Roasted Poblano Burger.
- Take the argument outside. Live music plays the patio on select dates, the only voice out there allowed to talk over you. The winery's calendar has them.
- The Oak & Tail Wine Club. Joining costs nothing, and members get complimentary tastings to share with friends, who will suddenly remember your number.
A little history
Deb Wahl opened the tasting room here in 2003, the first in northern Arizona, per Sedona Monthly. "I had an idea that wineries might start making their way out here," she said, and three of them are now neighbors. Nathalie and Gary Carruthers took ownership in 2020, and the team mascot, the Tipsy Squirrel, has a red called Grand Squirrel Mélange to answer for.

One Tipsy Squirrel per party is plenty: bring a designated driver or book a tour before you take on the other three. Start at 10 AM on Saturday or Sunday, when you are freshest and the parking is easy.
